  • To be a positive person who is resilient, not afraid to ask if you don’t understand something and willing to ‘have a go’ at something new.
  • To have excellent attendance & time-keeping – to be reliable and trustworthy.
  • To try to be a good role model at all times.
  • To help with the organisation, setting out, clearing away and care of resources to create a purposeful and attractive learning environment.
  • Working with pupils directly on curriculum related tasks under the direction of the teacher/SENDCo (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator).
  • To work as part of a team of teaching assistants and support staff.
  • To work with pupils who have Special Educational Needs/Disabilities
  • To supervise children in small group tasks and with other staff over lunch/break times.
  • To assist the team with behaviour management of pupils.
  • To follow school policies and procedures
  • To be proud to work at Monksdown and get involved in all aspects of school life (after school clubs etc) to develop your own experience. To encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher.
  • To assist in the supervision of pupils on outings and visits.
  • To assist identified pupils with personal care.
  • To set out, prepare, use, tidy and clean equipment after use. Assist in the general preparation and tidying of the classroom.
  • To gather information from parents/carers, pass messages to the class teacher as requested.
  • Establish effective working relationships and set a good example through excellent presentation and personal and professional conduct.
  • Endeavour to give every child the opportunity to reach their potential and meet high expectations.
  • Co-operate with other staff to ensure a sharing and effective usage of resources to the benefit of the school and children.
  • When required, take part in  activities such as parents’ evenings, inset days and any other appropriate school events.
  • To promote the welfare of children and to support the school in safeguarding children though relevant policies and procedures. Establish a purposeful and safe learning environment which complies with current legal requirements, national policies and guidance on the safeguarding and well-being of children and young people so that learners feel secure and sufficiently confident to make an active contribution to learning and to the school.
  • To promote equality as an integral part of the role and to treat everyone with fairness and dignity.
  • Level 3 Teaching Assisant Apprenticeship 
  • Training schedule has yet to be agreed. Details will be made available at a later dat.

An apprentice who is successful at our school could go on to do further training e.g., to a level 4 when level 3 is completed.

There is opportunity to become a permanent full time member of staff for an apprentice who has demonstrated their commitment to the school and their ongoing professional development.
