On 16th July, Greenbank College students, staff, and guests gathered to celebrate learner achievements at the 2025 Student Awards Ceremony. The event, held in the college’s bright Rathbone Suite, shone a spotlight on the hard work, determination, and progress that Greenbank’s students on vocational courses, such as hairdressing and sport, foundation pathways, and supported internships, have made.

Approximately 60 students attended the event, which also marked the end of the academic year in addition to celebrating achievements. Many of these students are now preparing to take the next step into employment or more independent living, following the support and guidance they have received from the college. The awards ceremony this year, like all previous years, celebrates the fantastic progress made by Greenbank students. And this is not just in academic terms, but also in personal terms.

“Our vocational programmes give students the tools they need for life, not just work.

Councillor Liam Robinson, Leader of Liverpool City Council, attended the event to present awards to the many deserving students. His involvement underscored the college’s importance in the wider community and its commitment to providing inclusive, opportunity-focused education.

Awards were bestowed for different subject areas, reflecting Greenbank College’s diverse curriculum and its mission to support every learner on their own unique journey. Each award recognised more than just classroom performance; it celebrated growth, confidence, and the kind of life skills that make a lasting difference, such as attendance.

Once the awards were handed out, the more formal part of the event gave way to fun and entertainment with a student-led talent show. Performers took to the stage to sing, entertain, and share their creativity in front of an audience of fellow students and staff.

A judging panel scored each act just for fun, but the real success lay in seeing students perform with confidence and joy. The talent show was a perfect expression of the college’s belief that success comes in many forms, not just academic, and that we all have something special to offer and share.

Greenbank College is known for its inclusive approach to education and training. Its focus is to help students develop the skills they need for work, independent living, and adult life. The college’s personalised learning pathways are designed to support every student in achieving their individual goals.

Anyone thinking about attending Greenbank College will be supported every step of the way. The team will ensure each potential student is assisted in applying for a course that is right for them. Throughout their learning experience, the college will support students to reach their potential.

Students at Greenbank don’t just gain qualifications, they leave with practical skills, improved confidence, and real options for the future. After graduating, many Greenbank students find employment, pursue further education or training, or enter supported employment opportunities, ready to take on challenges and make a contribution to the world.

College Principal Mary Beaumont shared her pride in this year’s graduates:

“Our vocational programmes give students the tools they need for life, not just work. We’re proud to see our learners growing in confidence, developing their independence, and feeling like valued members of their communities. We wish every one of them success and happiness in the future.”

This year’s ceremony was a powerful example of what’s possible when students are supported, believed in, and given the chance to shine.

If you or someone you know is thinking about next steps in education or training, Greenbank College could be the place to start. The college runs regular open evenings during the autumn and spring terms; these are a great opportunity to visit the campus, speak to staff, and learn about the courses on offer.
