National Careers Week (NCW) returns from 2nd to 7th March 2026, bringing together schools, colleges, employers and careers organisations across the UK to outline career opportunities and possibilities to pupils at an important point in the academic year.

This year, as in previous years, NCW highlights a range of free tools, events and resources designed to help anyone interested in planning or developing their career explore options. This might include apprenticeships, university, employment or other routes into work. It’s a week-long national campaign that encourages everyone, not just school pupils, to think about their careers, challenges common myths and helps people build confidence about next steps.

Whilst National Careers Week is extremely useful for dedicating a week in the year for exploring careers, LCR BeMore is your regional careers toolbox all year round. If you’re a student, parent, teacher, career changer or employer in the Liverpool City Region, the platform brings together local opportunities, guidance and practical career tools in one accessible place. Before we look at the resources available as part of the NCW campaign, let’s remind ourselves of what’s available on BeMore.

BeMore lists current apprenticeship vacancies from across the Liverpool City Region. Opportunities are updated regularly and can be searched by sector, employer or location. The interactive map also lets you explore vacancies near you.

If you’re leaving school or college, considering a career change or looking to gain new qualifications while earning, these listings give you access to live opportunities within the region at all levels.

The LCR BeMore career guides are designed to support informed choices. Each guide outlines:

  • What the role involves
  • Entry routes, including apprenticeships
  • Expected salary ranges
  • Progression pathways

They provide clear, practical insight grounded in the realities of the regional labour market.

The BeMore course finder acts as a digital regional prospectus, with thousands of local courses and training opportunities searchable in one place.

Covering a wide range of courses from college qualifications to adult learning and specialist training, the course finder helps learners of all ages understand what’s available locally and plan their next move.

Not sure how to reach your long-term goal? Our occupational map feature breaks down career pathways sector by sector, showing progression routes, qualification levels and alternative entry points. They are particularly useful for visualising how different roles connect and how careers can evolve over time.

LCR BeMore goes beyond just providing career information. Once registered, users can build and refine their CV, personalise their experience and explore sector insights tailored to their interests. There is also a personalised prospectus tool that lets you save any courses of interest in one place. For educators and employers, the platform supports engagement with regional talent and serves as a central point for career-related resources for pupils and staff.

National Careers Week is a fantastic national injection of inspiration to the careers conversation in the Liverpool City Region. This year, there is a strong focus on challenging misconceptions about different industries and highlighting the reality of modern careers.

Highlights from the NCW website include:

A suite of booklets and guides all about careers, including a parents’ guide to NCW 2026.

Launching on Monday, 2nd March, the virtual careers fair allows students to explore sectors and connect with employers online. No registration is required, and no student data is collected.

The annual magazine is available for download and includes career features, apprenticeship case studies and sector insights. In 2026, organisations such as NatWest, the NHS and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons are involved.

Especially for school pupils and parents, National Careers Week is an opportunity to explore possibilities, challenge assumptions and access valuable free resources. For those in the Liverpool City Region, LCR BeMore ensures that inspiration connects directly to local opportunities and resources, including live apprenticeship vacancies and regional course options, mapped career pathways, and practical tools.
