GETTING CLUED UP ON APPRENTICESHIPS: EMPLOYER WEBINAR DATES IN JUNE

Apprenticeships are firmly back in the spotlight as part of a national drive to tackle youth unemployment and support more young people into work.
With the government preparing to introduce new recruitment incentives for employers hiring apprentices aged 16 to 24, apprenticeships are firmly back in the spotlight as part of a national drive to tackle youth unemployment and support more young people into work.
As is already widely known, from October, employers will receive a £2,000 support payment for each new apprentice they recruit aged 16 to 24. This incentive scheme is part of the government’s wider NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) strategy, aimed at creating more opportunities for young people who are currently struggling to access the labour market.
Here in the Liverpool City Region, Be More will be actively supporting this agenda by encouraging employers to explore how apprenticeships could strengthen their workforce while opening doors for local young people. As many of our regional employers will testify, apprenticeships offer a practical way to develop skilled staff, address recruitment challenges and invest in future talent.
In the run-up to the introduction of the incentive, any regional businesses that aren’t involved in apprenticeships might want to explore how apprenticeships work, what support is available, and the benefits they can bring. The Be More Skills Brokerage is a good place to start, and we encourage any employer interested in learning more about apprenticeships to contact us. In addition, businesses can sign up to attend one or more free national webinars that are running throughout June. We’ve pulled the details of these webinars together in this feature.
