Construction Skills Service
WHAT WE DO
Working across the LCR, specialist Employment Officers will work in partnership with Jobcentre Plus to provide a service to support those made unemployed, or being made redundant from, declining sectors and assisting them to access jobs within the construction industry.
Virtual Awareness: The delivery of virtual awareness sessions to make customers aware of what it is like to work in the construction sector.
Transferable Skills: Identifying customer transferable skills from their previous role.
Identifying Skills: Identifying skills gaps for each customer based on their sector knowledge.
Creating Links: Creating links with employers with vacancies to understand the skills they require within their workforce.
Bespoke Training: Working with local training providers to design and deliver bespoke training programmes based on employer needs.
Job Brokerage: Providing intensive matching and job brokerage to employers in the construction sector once skills training is complete for those successful after training.

Construction covers everything from start to finish in a building project, including planning and sourcing sustainable materials, ensuring safety and monitoring efficiency, and the different manual labour tasks that happen on construction sites.

This programme is funded by the Department for Work & Pensions.
