Weapons Down Gloves Up

Aged 16-24 in the Liverpool City Region?
This Sports, Education and Employment programme is delivered in partnership with Weapons Down Gloves Up. You’ll take get access to employment and construction training opportunities alongside boxing or Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) classes.
It’s all about improving confidence, discipline and teamwork, with sessions coached by ‘Meatball Molly’ McCann and Tony Bellew.
The construction learning will set you on the right path to a successful career in the building industry. From new homes to world famous football stadiums and everything in between, you’ll meet renowned guest speakers and learn about:
- Asbestos Awareness
- Manual Handling
- First Aid
- Health and Safety in Construction
- Mental Health First Aid in Construction
- Customer Service Skills
- Employability Skills
- Travel Management
How long is the course?
12 weeks
Location: Ruskin Sports Village, Ruskin Drive, St Helens, WA10 6RP
Will I get work experience?
You’ll undertake a 4-week work experience placement with a local construction company, getting hands on experience for your future career.
Will I get a qualification?
You’ll leave this course with:
- A CSCS card, which allows you to work on UK construction sites
- NCFE Level 1 Certificate Occupational Studies in the Workplace
- Temporary Traffic Management Basic Course certificate
- Maths and/or English functional skills (if needed)
What can I do next?
Once you’ve completed this course, you can move straight into employment and apprenticeship opportunities.
