Each year Arup has an apprentice recruitment programme. This starts typically in November with applications closing in January. They are looking for creative and curious minds who are interested in realising their ambitions at Arup. We looked at Arup’s apprenticeship recruitment process in a previous article in June. This year’s process has begun and they have exciting opportunities I Business administration.

Their apprenticeships allow you to study for an academic qualification while working and learning alongside respected, technical professionals. A dedicated mentor and their learning and development team will guide you through your personal and professional development. You will be earning a wage and learning alongside respected, technical professionals. You will also study at a local college, on day release, and combine this experience with real responsibilities in the workplace. From your first day you will join a community of experts, where everyone is supported in their chosen career path and encouraged to work towards an accredited qualification. You will help to deliver effective and professional services for a range of varied and high-profile clients. While you will have a great deal of responsibility from day one, they will give you the chance to take on more as you progress and broaden your skills.

Arup are recruiting in the Liverpool City Region currently for Advanced Apprenticeships in Business Administration. They are looking for Apprentices to join their teams within Business Support, UK Document Control and Social Value. As part of your apprenticeship learning, you will be working towards completing the Level 3 Business Administration qualification with one of their partner training providers or colleges.

As a Document Control Apprentice in Arup, you will work within a team that provides collaboration support and assistance to internal customers (engineers, planners and other design professionals) and external clients. This will largely be through the use of software to distribute documents and drawings in accordance with project procedures and company management systems. It is a role that is highly visible and provides the opportunity to engage with many different areas of their business.

As a Social Value Apprentice in Arup, you will work in their growing Social Value team based in the North West and Yorkshire. Social value is about improving the well-being and quality of life of the users and communities close to the projects that they design and deliver. They aim to make their projects socially impactful, as well as technically successful. You will assist the team with business services support in its day to day running. You will also provide support on internal and external client projects to embed social value into project development and delivery. The role will provide you with experience of working across a wide range of Arup teams in a field that is increasingly important in the built environment sector. Advanced Apprenticeship – Building Services: Building services engineering encapsulates systems such as heating, ventilation, lighting, power, water services, life-safety systems and data communications. You will work emerging technologies such as Building Information Modelling (BIM) on a day to day basis. BIM enables us to design and visualise buildings collaboratively using 3D models and information. Projects span a variety of sectors, including education, leisure, sports, health and industry. This could include sports stadia, universities, airports and hospitals. As part of your apprenticeship, you will study towards a Level 3 in Building Services with one of our local partner training providers. The academic side of the apprenticeship runs parallel with on the job learning, once completed and passed through the gateway you will receive an industry acknowledged qualification.  Find out more about this opportunity here

 

Right now, we are looking for Civil Engineering Apprentice Technicians to join our UK-wide teams.

Across all teams, you will support a variety of different work, including:

 

Production of engineering drawings and sketches, including 3D or 2D computer drawings

Production of Building Information Models (BIM) (depending on the specifics of the role)

Undertaking virtual design reviews

Preparation of simple engineering calculations

Contributing to solutions for design challenges

Taking part in design meetings, site visits, presentations and workshops

Helping with the administration of projects

Buildings Civil/Structures Apprentice:

You will help a team including engineers and technicians who work with architects to model, draw and assist in designing building structures using a variety of construction materials and designing complex underground drainage and utilities networks that support the building. This is design work that really matters. You will work on a wide variety of buildings, from brand new sports stadia, schools and universities, to offices and industrial premises. You could also get involved in the computer modelling and drawing of external parts of buildings, such as car parks and access roads. You will also have the advantage of Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology, which enables us to design buildings collaboratively using computer models. As part of your apprenticeship, you’ll study towards a Level 3 qualification in Civil Engineering with one of our local partner colleges.

Infrastructure Civil Engineering Apprentice:

You will help a team including engineers and other professionals to assess, design and supervise civil engineering works. You’ll work on a wide range of projects – from roads and pavements, to car parks, drainage, and earthworks, flood defence, dams & reservoirs and water treatment works. Projects and designs will come in all shapes and sizes, and could involve highways, bridges, and rail schemes.  You could also get involved in the computer modelling and drawing of access roads, civil structures, bridges and utility infrastructure. You will also have the advantage of Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology.

 

You’ll help us to deliver effective and professional services for a range of varied and high-profile clients such as Highways England, HS2, Network rail, Birmingham City Council, University of Birmingham, University of Warwick, the Environment Agency, Yorkshire Water and many others. As part of your apprenticeship, you’ll study towards a Level 3 qualification in Civil Engineering with one of our local partner colleges. Advanced Apprenticeship – Health, Safety and Environment Technician – Consulting

we’re looking for Health, Safety and Environment Technician Apprentices to join our team in London. From your first day, you’ll join an unrivalled community of experts, where everyone is supported in their career path and encouraged to work towards an accredited qualification.

 

You’ll work with Health & Safety professionals as a member of the firm’s Advisory team assisting in the provision of health and safety services to both internal and external clients. This will involve developing consultancy services and assisting with carrying out a wide range of construction health & safety advice and occupational health and safety advice (such as strategy, policy development, SHE risk assessments and audits, analysis and reporting on SHE performance). You’ll be working collaboratively with teams of specialists to solve complex problems, assisting with writing policies and procedures, helping to carry out site inspections and audits and engaging with clients on a project basis.

 

The projects can be very varied in size, location and complexity e.g. they may involve the energy aviation, maritime, rail, major building, manufacturing and finance sectors within the UK and globally.

Advanced Apprenticeship – Project Controller – Consulting

we’re looking for an Advanced Project Controls Apprentice to join our team in London. From your first day, you’ll join an unrivalled community of experts, where everyone is supported in their career path and encouraged to work towards an accredited qualification.

 

You’ll work within the specialist Construction Planning team that is part of the Programme & Project Management (PPM) practice in London, to support programme and project management commissions won by PPM and engineering services commissions won by other parts of Arup.

 

The Construction Planning team is a centre of excellence within Arup for Project Planning Consultancy services for all stages of programmes and projects. Particular focus of the person sought for this role is to support senior planners / schedulers with the control of time during the design and construction stages of engineering projects. Working typically on large-scale or complex programmes and projects, our role in this area is essential to provide useful insight and recommendation to inform remedial actions and ultimately, the success of the project.

Advanced Apprenticeship – Transport Planning – Consulting
