BEAT THE VAPE: AN ONLINE PLATFORM TO HELP YOU QUIT

A new Liverpool City Region initiative designed by young people, for young people, offering a new approach to help quit vaping.
In the Liverpool City Region, one of the biggest threats to young people’s health is vaping. In 2023, 54% of our region’s youth tried vaping, and many have become addicted. This has a significant impact on health and wellbeing. If you’re investing in your future by working, studying or training hard, why jeopardise that by putting your health at risk?
That’s where Beat The Vape comes in: a new Liverpool City Region initiative designed by young people, for young people, offering a new approach to help quit vaping. The project is supported by the University of Liverpool and Equal Vision.
What are the risks of vaping?
Although vaping has been marketed as a “healthier” alternative to smoking, it can still have a significant impact on your physical health, both in the short term and the long term.
Here are just some of the risks of vaping:
- Potentially life-threatening lung damage
- Severe inflammation of the airways
- Increased heart rate and blood pressure
- Increased risk of a heart attack or stroke.
And the effects of vaping aren’t just physical. It’s incredibly addictive and can affect your focus and stress levels. For those who are dependent, symptoms such as anxiety and depression can kick in after a matter of hours. If you’re a young person in education or training, you’ll be expanding your horizons, learning new skills, meeting work or study deadlines, and socialising with friends; having to deal with the unwanted effects of vaping is a distraction you really don’t need.
Clearly, vaping is a huge problem in our society and a serious risk to today’s youth. But the traditional ways of educating young people about the risks just aren’t cutting it. That’s why Beat The Vape has created the UK’s first youth-led, gamified education platform designed to help everyone understand the risks and pressures associated with vaping.

Focus and finances: how quitting will help you get ahead
Your health directly impacts your career, so quitting vaping is the best move if you are planning on having a successful career with promotions and recognition. Here are just some of the benefits:
1. Increased focus: If you’re working, training or studying, you will need high levels of concentration if you want to do well. Whatever job or training role you are in, you’ll need a clear head to carry out your work to the best of your ability. Nicotine cravings and the health effects of vaping are a drain on your mental energy and focus. Beat The Vape helps you ditch the distraction so you can nail your work and impress your employer.
2. Save your cash: Many people are shocked once they add up how much they’re spending on vapes in a month. That’s money that could be going into savings, socialising, or even driving lessons. Quitting vaping isn’t just a plus for your health; it’s also a massive financial win.
3. Future-proof your health: Long-term success isn’t just about skills, it’s also about stamina and endurance. You might not be dealing with any of the physical effects of vaping now, but what about in a few years, when you’re trying to progress in your career and health issues are holding you back? By getting the facts and learning how to say ‘no’ now, you’re protecting your health for the decades of work and life ahead.
Learning the skills to manage your health and wellbeing is just as important as developing skills for working. If you are a vaper, take a big step toward your future health and career. Quit vaping with the new approach offered by Beat The Vape.
