St Helens based TRS Training has announced an exciting new apprenticeship partnership with logistics giant Nagel Langdons. The firm is part of the largest and most comprehensive food logistics network in Europe and has a site in Knowsley.

Initially, seven members of staff from the logistics giant are enrolling onto TRS Apprenticeship programmes to develop skills for traffic office and manufacturing roles. Some are undertaking apprenticeships in large goods vehicle driving. This will see them gain their LGV driving license and other job critical skills.

Nagel Langdons has a well-established reputation for investing in staff across Europe.

The firm already has a driving school in Europe and logistics centres in Hamburg and Switzerland. Earlier this year they opened a new distribution centre in the heart of Liverpool City Region, one of eight depots across the UK. Globally the Nagel-Group has 130 locations with a workforce of more than 12,000.

Kevin Birch from TRS Training says:

“TRS are specialists in delivering skills for the logistics sector. This is reflected by the fact that a large firm like Nagel-Group has appointed us as a training partner.  We will be working with staff in warehousing and transport to help boost competency and make an impact on the service given to the client companies that use Nagel-Langdons.”

The TRS team is looking forward to working closely with both the employer and its employees.

Apprenticeship training and associated services will be financed through Apprenticeship Levy funds. The training schedule has been planned to fit in with existing work patterns, with Apprenticeship workplace mentors playing a pivotal role in the successful completion of the training.

TRS will work with Nagel-Langdons to use the Apprenticeships to underpin career progression and pathways within the company. TRS will be on hand to offer further training in the areas of road haulage, warehousing and logistics. By progressing on to level 3 Apprenticeships in team leading, the current apprentices can develop their skills for managerial roles.
