As the travel industry begins to boom again post COVID, Hays Travel are looking for apprentices to join their teams across the North West.
Hays Travel are the UK’s largest independent travel agency with 470 branches across the UK. They are hiring apprentices at branches all over the North West. They are looking for 44 new apprentices currently in branches across Liverpool, the Wirral and North Wales. The recruitment drive follows an unprecedented surge in holiday bookings as a result of the COVID pandemic restrictions being lifted.
They are looking for candidates that have a positive and results driven attitude’ and an absolute passion for travel and tourism. You need to be customer focussed and successful candidates will be employed on an apprenticeship that will provide valuable on-the-job experience while training for a nationally recognised qualification. At the end of their apprenticeship they will have an NVQ Level Two/Three in Travel and Tourism. While on their apprenticeship they will earn a wage and also have the opportunity to travel. Previous apprentices say they have been to Mexico, South Africa, Tenerife and more with the job.
Simone Murphy, a former Hays apprentice, is now the North West’s Regional Sales Manager. She explains why Hays Travel is recruiting apprentices early to support a predicted further surge in bookings over the Summer. “We are seeing a real boom in holiday bookings as the world opens up again and we’re expecting that to continue through the year and into the future. That’s why we have decided to change the way we recruit apprentices, starting earlier than usual to reach more candidates and ensure we are giving the opportunity to individuals who are passionate about a career in travel,” reveals Simone.
The new recruitment process for apprentices at Hays Travel reflects Simone’s experiences as an apprentice. “We want to give them the chance to come along and meet us, learn more about what we do and see if a career in travel and tourism is for them. We provide our new recruits with a comprehensive training package with a nationally-recognised qualification at the end of it to help them make the most of this opportunity to work in this exciting sector – all that has helped me and many others succeed at Hays,” she tells us.
One of the benefits of being an apprentice at Hays Travel includes the opportunity to visit exotic locations. Simone, who started at the branch in Bebington, Wirral, said her first trip with Hays was one year into her apprenticeship. Since then she has ticked off many bucket list countries, including Mexico and South Africa.
