Halton Adult Learning Service directly delivers a wide range of adult, family learning and skills and employability courses across the borough of Halton, which consists of the towns of Widnes and Runcorn.

It is the main provider of (adult) Community Learning in Halton and works with a range of local partners to ensures that the curriculum offer meets the needs of both Halton residents and the local skills context: “Leaders ensure that their curriculums closely align with both the borough’s skills priorities, as well as the diverse needs of their residents” (Ofsted 2023) 

The courses on offer cover Functional Skills and ICT; English for Speakers of Other Languages; Teaching, Learning and Professional Skills; Arts, Crafts and Sustainability; Wellbeing and Personal Development and Supported Internships, which range from Entry to Level 3.

Creative Writing – How to Write a Children’s Story

The Creative Writing course supports learners in writing a short story to be published in the class anthology. It also aims to increase confidence in the learner’s writing ability by providing them with the essential skills.
